January 2015 Splinters from the Board

The Board briefly discussed updates on the design process for 5509 S. Pennsylvania, but spent most of the meeting time on regular business, including several financial issues. The Board decided that Nic Cable's salary as Ministerial Intern for Multigenerational Community for 2015 will be paid from Board Decision funds. The Board approved the allocation of the surplus from the 2014 budget to complete scheduled payments to reserve funds and to provide $1000 for summer Chalice Camp; the amount of the surplus is not yet clear.

The Board certified the number of members for UUA and Mid-America Region dues.

The Board approved spending up to $2000 from the Spendable Interest from the Endowment restricted fund to purchase and install a defibrillator as recommended by the Safe Congregation Task Force; this item can be reinstalled at our new church building.

Board members discussed a proposed alcohol policy to clarify the procedures we have been using.

There will be a special Board meeting on Wednesday, February 11, 7:00 p.m., to discuss design plans for 5509 S. Penn and to discuss issues involved in selling 855 Grove St.
