September 2015 Splinters from the Board

At its September 23, 2015 meeting, the Board learned about the Stewardship Committee’s plans for the Fall Pledge Drive. We also were oriented to various reports and procedures central to maintaining the financial health of the church.

Temporary funding was approved for the director of the newly forming Choir for All.

An update about the new building from the Dream Implementation Team gave highlights of the September 20th Listening and Learning Sessions, where valuable questions and feedback were received from church members. While recent efforts at cost-cutting without reducing the scope of our project have greatly narrowed the large gap between general construction contractor bids and our original budgeted amount, there is still a bothersome discrepancy that we hope the contractor and architect can continue to help alleviate.

Meanwhile, evaluation of contractor bids for audio, visual, and lighting (AVL) systems for the sanctuary and social hall is underway, and as always, the September work party had everyone looking up!
