Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lansing seeks an accomplished keyboard artist for year-round Sunday services and Sept-June weeknight choral rehearsals. Must be able to sight-read and read open score, play in a wide variety of styles and accompany soloists, vocal/instrumental ensembles and congregational singing. Improvisational skills, including transpositions and modulations, are HIGHLY desirable, as is previous church experience.
¼ time (10 hours per week avg.) pianist
$8145 annually (paid biweekly)
Membership in the Association for UU Music Ministries paid by the church
Monday OR Thursday night choir rehearsal 7-9pm Sept. through early June
Sunday Morning Services & choir warm-up 9:30-11:45am
Christmas Eve, Special Services and occasional other rehearsals as needed
Collaborate with the Dir. of Music regarding musical choices for Worship Services
Collaborate and communicate with the directors of the choirs
Occasionally rehearse and perform w/jazz and folk bands, and accompany soloists
High level of keyboard proficiency in a variety of musical styles
Experience in accompanying both soloists and group rehearsals
Must be able to read open choral score
Good people and communication skills
Reliability and on-time arrival
Comfort and familiarity with progressive religious community in general
The pianist will be expected to abide by Denomination and Church Policies as regards respectful and appropriate behavior toward all Staff and Congregation members, as well as the AUUMM ethical guidelines.
