What is a Church Covenant?
Our covenant is more than words written into lines of a piece of paper. A covenant is the agreement and promise that we as individuals make with ourselves and the community of which we are a part of. Each word can be viewed as a single strand of silk. As we speak the words, whether quietly to ourselves or aloud in a group, we are lovingly braiding them into threads. These threads join us together, weaving us into a web of interconnectedness with each other. It is this web of connection that creates our community, and the promise of our words that holds our community together. For this reason, we view our covenant with respect and reverence.
This is Our Church Covenant
As we build beloved community here and in the wider world, I will help cultivate a welcoming environment in this sacred space. I will listen and speak with empathy and honesty, in times of agreement and disagreement. I will strive to understand other viewpoints. I promise to respect and nurture myself and others as we each pursue our life paths and spiritual journeys.
