August 2026 Board Meeting

At the August 25, 2026 Board meeting:

1. The Board approved two contracts:

a. Contract with Trauma Services Co. for professional encampment cleanup to begin Aug 31, estimated to take about a week.

b. Contract with Homeland Solar for solar panel installation.  Panels have been installed and we are waiting on connection to the power grid. Fundraising is ongoing, designed not to conflict with the Pledge Drive.

2. The Board approved underbrush cleanup to occur in and around the encampment area by church volunteers.  Bob Lovell will be the coordinator, with Board liaison Ned Jackson.

3. Revisions in two church policies were approved:

              a. Facility Use Policy approved 7/21/2026: The following sentence was added to section III.H: “Camping or overnight stays on church property are prohibited except with prior approval as described …”

              b. Video Surveillance Policy approved 7/21/2026 as a temporary policy: After discussions with RDC, with whom we share the cameras, changes were made for indefinite approval. 

4. The report on the April 2026 congregational survey was approved, and will be available on the website. 

5. A start-up workshop for Rev. Roger’s interim ministry, to be led by UUA Regional Consultant Sharon Dittmar, was discussed and scheduled for October 30-31.  There will be a Friday evening potluck (6-9pm) for discussion with the congregation (all ages invited, childcare provided).  On Saturday the minister and Board will participate in a workshop from 9:30am-3:30pm.
