July 2026 Board Meeting

The ad hoc Board Governance Committee continues its review of church policies not reviewed in more than 5 years.  The Board reaffirmed four policies with minor updates (Donated & Loaned Art, Minister's Emergency Fund, Fundraising, and Sales & Solicitation).  The Building Use Policy was reviewed and revised by a Board sub-group, and a more appropriately named Facility Use Policy was approved by the Board.  A new Video Surveillance Policy has been assembled and approved on a temporary basis to define the acquisition and handling of the data from the recently installed security cameras. These policies will be available on a new page on the website.  In ongoing review, the Safe Congregation Policy (often called Safe Church Policy) is of particular importance given the extensive sharing by Refugee Development Center (RDC) Southside Community Kitchen (SCK), UU Lansing, and other users of the building and grounds; an ad hoc Board committee has been assembled to consider the relevant updates needed.
