January 2026 Board Meeting

Splinters from the Board, 27 Jan 2026:

Heating fix: The board extends kudos to Katherine, Nicole, and Knowlan Randza for rapid and creative response to the failure of the heating system in the atrium. That area is where RDC welcomes all participants, so keeping it functioning was critical through the cold week. Knowlan drove to Grand Rapids to acquire electric heaters; Katherine and Nicole kept tabs on progress by A-1 HVAC company. Monday Feb 2 the unit was repaired and the heat returned! 

Walkie-talkie security system to be acquired, and FCC license application to be submitted:
For security purposes, RDC and UU Lansing will purchase (with RDC monies) a set of portable walkie-talkies powerful enough to reach across the full extent of UU Lansing property. Systems at this level require an FCC license, and UU Lansing will submit the relevant permit application.

A congregational meeting was scheduled for Sunday March 8 at noon to elect delegates to General Assembly and Regional Assembly. The Leadership Development Committee (chair, Rocky Beckett) will be providing information and soliciting nominations (or volunteers).
